Getting an air quality monitor
The AFRESH project has used the Dylos DC1700, a low cost particle monitor, to provide air quality feedback. This monitor is widely used and has been evaluated as accurate and useful for this purpose in previously published work. The AFRESH software is designed to interpret results using this type of monitor and cannot be used with other models, at least without extensive software modification.
Dylos DC1700 monitors can be purchased directly from the Dylos Corporation. When ordering, we advise that buyers request that the monitors are loaded with firmware version 2.05b. This firmware displays the message "Logging data" instead of particle counts on the monitor's LCD screen.
No members of the AFRESH research team or the Scottish Centre for Indoor Air at the University of Aberdeen have any financial links of any kind with the Dylos Corporation. Other particle monitors are available and may provide results suitable for your needs.
